A new CAT ONLY facility next door so we can give your feline friends a more comfortable experience when they are sick or for routine care. No more noisy dogs, or the hussle and bussle of our regular clinic to upset them.
Animal Health Center was established in 1985 by Dr. Michael Pedersen. We moved to our current location in 1995. This clinic is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Cannon Falls, MN. Dr. Mike, Caroline, Dannette, Laura and Tracy seek to provide the best possible medical, surgical and dental care for their highly-valued patients, supporting small town community spirit.

We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. Animal Health Center strives to offer excellence in veterinary care to Cannon Falls , MN and surrounding areas.

  • Dr. Michael R. Pedersen

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Mike received his B.S. degree in chemistry & math in 1972 from The University of Great Falls, Montana.

    He attended The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Fort Collins, Colorado, receiving a D.V.M degree in June 1976.

    Attended a 1 year large animal internship at Texas A & M University in College Station.

    Moved to Minnesota in the fall of 1977 and has practiced here until this present day.

    In 1985 he founded The Animal Health Center in downtown Cannon Falls, moving to the present location in 1995.

    Dr. Mike lives on a farm with 6 horses,3 dogs and 2 cats.
    In his leisure time he enjoys riding, camping and working around the farm.

  • Caroline D. Rud

    Practice Manager / Vet Assistant
    Yes, Caroline is the one with the "accent"!!!
    Caroline is our Practice Manager and joined the team at the clinic in 1994. Semi retiring in May 2016 and just at the clinic Monday and Tuesdays

    Born in England, Caroline emigrated to Minnesota in 1991.
    She lives with her husband, Duane, on a farm in southern Minnesota, where they used to raise English Shire Horses and still raise Scottish Highland Cattle.

    They share their home with adopted cats, Preston & Dexter, a German Wirehaired Pointer, Hector and  rescued terrier mix, Zinnia, who used to accompany her on a long commute to and from work.

    The barn is down from 10 to 5 cats that are pampered, ex strays that are now spayed and neutered . Her hubby teases her that they need more cat beds in the barn.....there are well over a dozen, plus towels in every sunny barn window!

    When not at work, you can find her out and about doing chores & enjoying farm life surrounded by her hooved and pawed kids. During the winter she enjoys skiing at Welch Village and in Wyoming at Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee.

  • Dannette Lawrence

    Vet Assistant
    Dannette joined the team part time in 1994 then full time in 1995.
    She has raised her children in Cannon Falls and they are living their lives out in Seattle and Hawaii.

    A long time resident of Cannon Falls, Dannette likes this community, her friends and neighbors.

    Her adopted cat, Willie and her Dove, Crackers keep her company at home.
    You can hear them both when you call her, one cooing and the other meowing!!

    She enjoys time up at the Lake during the summer, reading books and visiting her children and grand cat, Finlay.

  • Laura Harty

    Vet Assistant
    Laura, or as her friends know her by, La, joined the team in 1998.
    A long time resident of the Cannon Falls area she knows a lot of people!
    She has dedicated most of her spare time to stray animals and helping others with their pets.

    Her love for animals in need, especially cats, has endeared her to all that know her.

    She lives with many adopted cats, a lovely dog, Hattie, that was La's very first  adopted dog.
    Ed is a long term foster dog that comes to work with her everyday.

    La enjoys a nice Chinese meal and the odd trip to the casino!

  • Tracy Griffith CVT

    Tracy is our Veterinary Technician, she graduated from Argosy University in 2012.
    A life long lover of animals, she takes pride in knowing she provides the best possible care for them.
    In her spare time, Tracy enjoys singing, writing, gardening and a variety of crafts, as well as the  occasional camp up north.

  • Cassie Hanson CVT

    Cassie grew up on  a farm in southern Minnesota and just graduated from RCTC for her Veterinary Technician course. She was very involved in 4H while growing up, showing Beef and Dairy Cattle, Hogs and Dogs. She grew up around pigs, beef cows, barn cats and farm dogs. She currently has 9 barn cat, the most tame is a orange little guy named Howie. She has a Aussie , Boomer Rang, and a Border/Aussie Mix ,Rosie Marie. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, camping/traveling, fishing, dog training, working with cattle and hiking with her dogs.

  • Angela Schechinger CVT

    Angela grew up on a family farm in Adams, Minnesota and graduated from RCTC in the Veterinary Technician program. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors with her flower and vegetable garden, hiking/biking, doing DIY crafts, reading, and watching movies. She has a few barn cats, 1 dog, Sparky, her Norwegian Elkhound, and 2 rats named Shawn and Simon.
